My dream vacation would be to travel to Mexico with one of my best friends, Jessica! We have been best friends for over 8 years and we have always talked about going on vacation together and we think Mexico would be the perfect spot because there are so many amazing opportunities there! We would love to go to Cancun, especially for spring break! The best part of going to Mexico is trying out new things we have never even dreamed of doing before! Like surfing in the ocean, swimming with dolphins and hopefully we would be able to volunteer and help out less fortunate people in anyway we could!
When I told my best friend about this amazing opportunity this is the reaction I got!
I would absolutely love to volunteer and help out kids especially since my platform is to raise awareness for underprivileged kids. Everyone deserves to live life to the fullest and if Jessica and I are able to give kids the best day ever and help out as much as possible the feeling Jessica and I would get would be amazing and probably pretty life changing!
On our vacation we would love to go snorkeling! We could see all of the beautiful fish and sea life that we don’t get to see everyday at Nickel Lake. Another thing we had always talked about doing is zip lining! How beautiful would it be to zip line over the amazing blue sea? Cancun is also known to have one of the longest zip lines in Latin America! We could drive through the jungles and see some pretty amazing animals in our favorite vehicle, an open topped jeep!! Also, did you know, Cancun is one of the premier spa destinations in the world so of course we’d have to get our girl time in! Doing a trip like this and getting to do all of these cool things would be a dream come true!

My commercial would start off with an intro spoken out loud with dim music in the background and the TV would be showing the Rocky Mountain House golf course!
Are you trying to think of the perfect present for a family member? Do they love golfing? A personalized golf towel would be perfect! just think, it’s a hot day, they’re golfing, they just hit a hole in one and they can feel the sweat dripping down their face! What do they grab? They’re personalized golf towel they got from you of course!
When I think of golfing I immediately think of my uncle Wayne. He loved to golf and even more he loved his personalized golf towel he received from his son! So after the intro I would go to a scene of a very happy family possibly celebrating christmas and he would open the present from his son and it would be a golf towel that has “Daddy” written on it! This part of the commercial would show the love and thankfulness the family is sharing and the excitement about the new personalized golf towel!
After this I would go to a scene of the father playing golf and doing exactly what the intro had said! The music playing would be the beginning of the song “Paradise” By Coldplay. When he reaches for the golf towel it will show how much use a person can get out of a personalized golf towel and it will ensure the audience that a personalized golf towel can be an amazing gift!
The end of the commercial will fade out to a black screen and a website address and phone number will appear with a voice saying how you can order your own personalized golf towel online and also the stores and the number you can call to order one.
They say it is the thought that counts, and this thought is pretty great 🙂
What is a green building? A green building is a structure that uses a process that is environmentally responsible and resource efficient. A green building is made with respect and an understanding of natural cycles. A green building design provided an opportunity to use resources more efficiently while creating healthier and more energy-efficient homes and commercial buildings.
A great way to go green is to use a white roof! It is a roofing system that reflects heat and have proven to reduce the net cooling requirements of a facility by as much as 20%.What is it that turns an ordinary building into a green, sustainable, healthy place to live and work?
What makes a building green?
1. The right site. A green building should not be constructed in any sensitive habitats like wetlands, groundwater recharge zones, or old growth forests. They should be built over former brownfields that have been reclaimed. It is also a really good idea to have your building near major bus, train and subway lines to encourage the use of public transit.
2. Minimal energy use. Energy efficiency is a key component of any green building, which is why using good quality, insulating windows is as important as window placement. Windows in the right places allow daylight to reduce lighting use while providing solar warmth in cool weather.
3. The water-wise green building. Low-flow toilets, sinks and showers are awesome but you can take one step further by doing things like reusing graywater, which is non-septic water from sinks and showers, to flush toilets. Some green buildings even take advantage of rainwater, collecting it to cool the building and incorporating it into natural water features on the site.
4. Amenities and management. The very best green design and construction ideas don’t mean much if the occupants of a green building turn a blind eye to sustainable practices. For example, recycling and turning off lights when not in use requires ongoing participation from a building’s occupants and management.
Although these are only a few things that can make a building green, they are very good ideas and are very helpful within today’s society.
In my small community, we don’t have large scale Green Buildings, but there are a lot of efforts being put forth that help make a difference when added up. In my home, we use Insulated Concrete Foundation, which is more energy efficient than just concrete or a wood basement. We use LED lights that use 1/3 of the power than normal light bulbs do. We have programmable thermostats that we can manipulate to save gas in the winter and power in the summer during sleeping hours or time away from home. These are just a couple of examples from my home, but what I have noticed, are two homes with wind turbines known as micro-generation. These homes have spent more money than what would normally cost them for standard power hook up with Sask Power, but through their efforts and commitment to the extra costs, they are generating power from wind.
A wind turbine is made up of two or three propeller-like blades called the rotor. The rotor is attached to the top of a tall tower. As the wind blows it spins the rotor. As the rotor spins the energy of the movement of the propellers gives power to a generator. There are some magnets and a lot of copper wire inside the generator that make electricity. Winds are stronger higher up off the ground, so wind turbine towers are about 30 metres tall to allow the rotor to catch more wind energy. The turbines are built with a device that turns the rotor so that it always faces into the wind. Just one wind turbine can generate enough electricity for a single house, or the electrical energy to pump water, or to power a mill which grinds grain. The electrical energy can also be stored in batteries.
If you don’t know what a wind turbine looks like, I have inserted a picture for you to look at. One of which is the wind turbine just down the road from my home!
Although it has now been taken down, it used to bring in a lot of tourists. Since Weyburn is a small town holding the population if 11,000 people this was very exciting. The doors opened December 29th 1921. Rumor has it that not everyone admitted into the hospital needed to be.
It was the site of lobotomies, electric shock therapy, and some of Canada’s most controversial LSD experiments. If you we’re to go out into the fields around this mental hospital you could find a little shack known as “hang man hut.” It was said that a man had hung himself there and haunted the area. As you could imagine I’m sure there are many lost souls in this area.

It is $20 per calendar and I have chose to give the money to my local humane society! The shoot was so much fun! Not only was it great to see the girls again but Ken Yick from brightSUN photography was our photographer and he was amazing! He was very helpful with telling me how I should pose and always told us how beautiful we were!! He was a great man to work with! We had four main outfits for the calendar, Cocktail Dress, Summer, Roughrider outfit, and my favorite, Evening Gown!! We got to wear BEAUTIFUL dresses from a shop in Saskatoon called Exquisite Fashions and Bridal, amazing people helped us change in and out of our dresses, I got to wear a pink Sherri Hill. Such a beautiful gown. Can not wait to wear another one at the pageant 🙂
